Since I'm new to the area, I was hoping I could get some insight and recommendations to a decent vet in the Prince Albert area.

The perfect vet would be:
Raw friendly
Compassionate
Reasonably Priced
Honest

Now, I understand that's a lot to ask of a vet, and my experience, while looking for a "close to raw" cat food (the kitties just aren't at the raw stage, and likely never will be) indicated that finding a raw friendly vet may be difficult in the area. As long as the vet is willing to accept our feeding choice (as opposed to supporting it), I'll be ok with that.

Thank you for any input you may have!

Christine (and Stella the Newf and Cinder and Hera the kitty )

Awesome Nicole, thanks!
Do you see a particular vet there?

I often see Peter Surkan but also will see Anne Barlowe and John Kessler. All good.

I had Stella into Park Range this morning for what turned out to be a bacterial infection of the skin. We saw Dr. Barlowe and she was awesome. She didn't give me an ounce of grief over Stella being raw fed, and gave me a sample of a product that may help with her knee (she tore her ACL in July and had surgery on it in August last year, before I got her). If it indeed helps, it would be awesome because it appears you can't get Cartrophen in PA to save your life (which is what Stella usually has when she "tweeks" her knee).
I was really really pleased with Dr. Barlowe, and Stella seemed to like her a lot too (the cookies helped).

So, I'm happy to say, we have a vet's office!
Thanks for the referral Nicole!

Christine

You're welcome. Ann (Dr. Barlowe) is quite good. So are Peter (Surkan) and John (Kessler). So if you ever have to get in and can't see Ann I am sure that you would like the other 2 as well. Smile

Excellent, thank you!
I'm pleased to say that Stella's knee is much better, and her bacterial skin infection's cleared up now (YAY).
Sadly, it was suggested that I shave her down in order to be sure to have a good grip on it, which I decided to do. My beautiful Newfoundland looks like a "Newdle" (Newf/poodle cross) but she's infection free now!
